Overview
Hip arthroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure to repair the torn labrum and reshape the bone that causes impingement (FAI), preserving the hip in active patients.
What the Procedure Involves
- Repair of the torn labrum with suture anchors
- Reshaping of the extra bone causing impingement (osteoplasty)
- Performed through small incisions with a camera
- Outpatient procedure
Who It's For
- Labral tears with groin pain, catching, or clicking
- Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI)
- Active patients who have not improved with therapy and injection
Recovery & Rehabilitation
Crutches are used with limited weight-bearing for a few weeks to protect the repair, followed by progressive strengthening. Return to sport is typically 4–6 months.
