Overview
The hip labrum is a ring of cartilage that seals and stabilizes the hip socket. A tear causes groin pain, clicking, and catching, often in active adults and frequently associated with impingement.
Common Symptoms
- Groin or deep-hip pain
- Clicking, catching, or locking
- Pain with pivoting or prolonged sitting
- A sense of instability

- Femoroacetabular impingement
- Repetitive pivoting or twisting
- Injury or dysplasia

- Physical therapy and activity modification
- Image-guided injection
- Arthroscopic labral repair (with treatment of impingement)

Recovery & What to Expect
Therapy helps many patients; when arthroscopic repair is needed it is minimally invasive, with a graduated return to sport over 4–6 months.
