Overview
The Achilles tendon connects the calf to the heel and powers push-off. Injuries range from tendinitis to complete rupture, which typically occurs during a sudden acceleration or jump.
Common Symptoms
- Pain and stiffness at the back of the heel
- Swelling along the tendon
- A sudden 'pop' and weakness with rupture
- Difficulty pushing off or rising on the toes
